Child safety standards
Last updated · 2026-05-16
Alumnite is a private community platform for alumni organizations. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in any form, and we prohibit, detect, and act on it across every part of our product.
1. What we prohibit
The following is strictly forbidden on Alumnite and will result in immediate account termination and, where required by law, a report to authorities:
- child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — any image, video, audio, text, drawing, or generated media that sexualizes a person under 18;
- grooming — communications intended to befriend, manipulate, coerce, or sexually exploit a minor;
- sexual extortion ("sextortion") of a minor, including threats to share intimate content;
- child trafficking, solicitation, or facilitation of in-person contact with a minor for sexual purposes;
- sexualized depictions of minors, including animated, AI-generated, or fictional content;
- links, references, or attempts to direct users to off-platform locations hosting any of the above.
2. Who can use Alumnite
Alumnite accounts are restricted to users 18 years and older. Each alumni organization additionally controls membership — only verified alumni are admitted, and organization administrators must approve new members. We do not knowingly create accounts for minors. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we terminate it and delete the associated data.
3. How we prevent CSAE
- Closed-by-default communities: Alumnite is not an open social network. Each alumni organization is gated, and every member must be approved by an organization administrator before joining.
- Verified identities:sign-up requires a verified email address; OAuth sign-ins (Google, Apple) are linked to the provider's verified identity.
- Content moderation: organization administrators can remove posts, comments, articles, and members in their community. Alumnite staff can remove content and terminate accounts across the platform for violations of these standards.
- Reporting tools:every post, profile, and direct-message conversation has an in-product "Report" action that includes a dedicated Child safety category. Reports route to Alumnite's safety team and to the affected organization's administrators.
- Block: any user can block any other user from a profile, which immediately cuts off direct messages and mutual visibility.
4. How to report CSAE on Alumnite
If you encounter content or behavior on Alumnite that you believe constitutes CSAE, please report it immediately. We accept reports in two ways:
- In-product:use the "Report" action on any post, comment, profile, or direct message. Reports are received by our safety team within minutes.
- By email: send details to safety@alumnite.com with the subject line "CSAE report". Include the URL or profile in question and any context you can share safely.Do not attach or forward CSAM — describe it and we will retrieve it directly.
Reports tagged as child-safety issues are prioritized for review. When we confirm a violation we remove the content, terminate the responsible account, and preserve the underlying records in a manner that supports a law-enforcement investigation.
5. Reporting to authorities
Alumnite cooperates fully with law enforcement and the relevant child-protection organizations:
- NCMEC (United States):in accordance with 18 U.S.C. § 2258A, we report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org.
- INHOPE network (international): reports received about content hosted in other jurisdictions are referred to the appropriate INHOPE member hotline.
- Law enforcement: we respond promptly to lawful requests from law enforcement and proactively notify authorities when we identify imminent risk to a child.
If you believe a child is in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services first, then report to us.
6. If you need help
If you or someone you know has been a victim of online sexual exploitation, these organizations can help:
- NCMEC CyberTipline (US): report.cybertip.org · 1-800-843-5678
- INHOPE (global directory of national hotlines): inhope.org
- Take It Down (NCMEC): takeitdown.ncmec.org — free service to remove intimate images of someone under 18 from participating online platforms.
